Local attractions
From the moment you arrive at the Cara guesthouse, it will be apparent that there is an ever evolving town. Whitley Bay has always been home to attractions which suit all interests, ages and cultures. The restaurants, cafes, shops, bars and clubs offer a great opportunity to sit back and relax, or hit the town. Whitley Bay also has a renowned playhouse, golf, mini golf, leisure pool and amusements, as well as a recently built skate-park on the sea-front.
All of Northumberland and North Tyneside attractions are within easy reachable distance. We are ideally situated with Newcastle city centre and all its museums, cafes, restaurants and theatres and only seven miles away;: easily accessed by metro, and local public transport. Newcastle is a fast growing Cosmopolitan city that makes it a great place to visit.

St Mary's Lighthouse
St. Mary’s Island with it’s historic lighthouse is visible from many of our rooms at the Cara. The lighthouse, together with the museum and nature walks, make it a great Northeast attraction.
Whitley Bay Skatepark
The new Whitley Bay Skatepark is right across the street from The Cara and provides a great place for the kids to show off their BMX and skateboarding skills.
Whitley Bay Playhouse
The new Whitley Bay Playhouse is only a 3 minute walk from the Cara Guesthouse front door. With an £8m renovation project nearly complete it is a fantastic state of the art event hall providing first class live entertainment, shows, concerts and latest movie releases. The playhouse is due to open Autumn 2009.
Waves Leisure Pool
Waves is an exceptional new leisure center in whitley Bay. The pool is newly renovated and is a terrific facility with swimming pool, waves machine, a pirate ship, coffee shop, gym and sauna. It is a place the whole family can enjoy.
